Nelson Large End Table, Low Height
16" High x 28.5" Diameter Top
designed by George Nelson
At A Glance:
As with many of the pieces designed by the iconic George Nelson, his signature end table is characterized by clean lines and practicality. The round end table is a spot for flowers, a small lamp, a phone, an alarm clock or a coffee mug. First produced in 1954, the clean, graceful lines of the pedestal and legs are typical of Nelson design. He had a penchant for bringing grace to materials that didn't have a graceful reputation, and the metal base looks almost organic as it rises from the floor. This version of his End Table is 16" h x 28.5" diameter and works well as a coffee table.
What's To Like:
The Nelson End Table is beautifully balanced, with an alluring sweep of the legs into the post, and tastefully formed top. It's really a work of art. Plus, it can be so much more than an end table. It can work in home or office as a table in an informal meeting area, break room, or lounge; it's also perfect as a coffee table.
What's Not to Like:
It would be nice if the top came with a natural wood finish option.
The Bottom Line:
The Nelson End Table continues just as it began - as one of the most artistic pieces in Herman Miller's modern classics collection. George Nelson was a master of his craft, and his end table shows up in many a well-decorated home. It's a good way to add beauty to your living space.
