    Product Overview

    Leap Plus Office Chair

The streamlined, stylish contour of the Steelcase Leap® chair is just the beginning. The Leap is the first chair that actually changes shape to support your movements! With its patented Live Back® technology, it moves dynamically as your back moves, mimicking the movement of your spine; the adjustable arms of the chair move in and out, forward and back; the seat glides forward so you can recline without leaving your vision and reach zone, and stay oriented to your work. Even when leaning forward, the seat edge flexes to relieve pressure on the back of the legs. In short, the Leap chair's ergonomic advances allow you to work comfortably, and therefore more productively, in a proven healthy manner for extended periods of time.

Some of its sophisticated features include:

    • Natural Glide System™
    • LiveBack technology
    • Lower Back Firmness
    • Upper Back Force adjustment

In addition to its ergonomic benefits, the refined look of the Leap can be ordered in a wide range of fabric, leather or vinyl upholstery choices, as well as a polished aluminum frame option, to personalize you chair for the widest number of applications for your home or home office.

    Steelcase® Leap® Chair Features

With its patented Live Back® technology, the sleek, streamlined and sophisticated Steelcase Leap chair mimics the movement of your spine and dynamically moves as your back moves; the adjustable arms move in and out, forward and back; the seat glides forward as you recline so you stay oriented to your work.

Available with a range of options: Leap arm options are Armless, Height-Adjustable Arms, or Height, Depth, Width and Pivot-Adjustable Arms. Chair frame in black, midnight (solar black), platinum, or polished aluminum frame; available with Steelcase and Designtex fabric, leather, or vinyl as well as COM (customer's own material); 3D Knit material available on the chair back with matching fabric seat, or with a seat fabric of your choice. The Leap chair is also available as a drafting chair.

    Live Back technology
This built-in ergonomic design allows the back of the seat to change shape to support your entire spine.

    Natural Glide System™
The seat glides forward so you can recline without leaving your Vision and Reach Zone, and stay oriented to your work. This encourages more varied postures so there's less static load on the spine.

    Thermal Comfort
Because of slats in both its back and seat, and the special foam it uses, the Leap chair offers excellent “breathability.”

    Lower Back Firmness control
This control enables you to set a constant amount of firmness to help maintain your lower spine's natural curve.

    Upper Back Force control
Upper back force control enables you to set the amount of "push back" that you desire as you recline.

    Adjustable Seat Depth
Adjustable seat depth accommodates different body shapes for long-term comfort.

    Flexible Seat Edge
When you recline or lean forward, the seat edge flexes to relieve pressure on the back of the legs.

    Adjustable Arms
Arms telescope in and out, move forward and back, pivot and adjust up and down so you can find a natural position that comfortably supports the wrists, forearms, shoulders and neck.

    Adjustable lumbar support (Optional)
An adjustable lumbar attachment is available for those who need additional support.

      BRAND STORY

Steelcase leads the way in creating great experiences by offering a range of architecture, furniture and technology products and services designed to help people reach their full potential.

Our comprehensive portfolio is anchored by three core brands: Steelcase, Coalesse and Turnstone. Together with our partners, we design spaces to help people work, learn and heal.

And because protecting the environment is in our DNA, we drive sustainable social, economic and environmental change through our decisions and actions. At Steelcase, we don’t just do what’s right, we do what’s best - for people and for the planet.

Established in 1912 as the Metal Office Furniture Company, our first patent for a metal wastebasket meant safety for office workers. In crowded cities where fires spread quickly, replacing wicker with steel was a lifesaving innovation.

Founders Peter M. Wege, Walter D. Idema and David D. Hunting built the business in Grand Rapids, Michigan - a city then known as “The Furniture City” because of its many wood furniture manufacturers.

By 1919 the company began to establish its dealer network, making desks, cabinets and other products available nationwide. Officially known as Steelcase Inc. beginning in 1954, the company grew globally and executed the largest single shipment in the industry in 1973, providing over 400 truckloads of furniture for Chicago’s Sears Tower. Steelcase became publicly traded in 1998.

We’ve been looking forward since the beginning. From our early years to 21st-century breakthroughs, Steelcase turns insights into innovations and pushes limits to transform and reimagine the workplace.
